Maths journals adopt new Data Policy to encourage transparency on research data

Many research papers published in mathematics journals include numerical results obtained through computation. By default, EDP Sciences has a policy of encouraging authors to upload data and code related to their research to an online repository, and to include a data availability statement and data/code citations in their articles. Five of the maths journals published by EDP Sciences in partnership with the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) have implemented a more prescriptive data sharing policy.

For these journals, authors are asked, during submission, whether they have deposited data or code in a public repository. If, at the time of submission, authors declare there is data or code in a repository, a data availability statement and data/code citations in the article itself then become mandatory and must be provided. The presence and accuracy of these elements will be systematically checked by the publisher.

• ESAIM: Probability and Statistics (website)
• RAIRO - Operations Research (website)

Following the transition of the mathematics journals to open access under the EDP Sciences/SMAI Subscribe to Open (S2O) model launched in 2020, these journals are further embracing open science by prescribing data and code sharing for the benefit of the broader community.
